Working in painting, collage, and sculpture, Drinkwater construct richly layered works that read like fragments of an intimate diary. His mark-making and assemblage are physical acts, shaped by immersion in the landscape and by a sensitivity to what has come before. Each work becomes a response to lived experience, capturing the sensations, motifs and emotional residue that define his relationship with the world.

Drinkwater’s work is held in major public collections including the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Newcastle Art Gallery and ArtBank, and has exhibited widely both in Australia and internationally. He was awarded the Brett Whiteley Travelling Scholarship in 2014, and has been shortlisted for many major art prizes. For collectors of contemporary art and lovers of Australian abstraction, this painting is a remarkable find.

James DRINKWATER (1983 - )
'Private Garden Antibes' 2016
mixed media on board
Image Size: 140 x 120 cm
Dimensions: 142 x 122 x 5 cm
Signed: Signed and dated verso 'Drinkwater'

Comes with Letter of Provenance

Condition:Very Good: Describes a work of art's image as Excellent, but may show some small signs of surrounding wear to paper or frame.
