Mark Howson was a founding member of ROAR Studios — one of Melbourne’s earliest and fiercest artist-run-initiatives. A proverbial roar against the art establishment, Roar artists championed rebellious, instinctual and figurative art. In his role, Howson creates deceptively minimal works.

A sculptor, printmaker and painter, Howson is represented in numerous public collections including the Australian National Gallery and National Gallery of Victoria, as well as New Parliament House and Art Bank. He has received sculpture commissions from the National Gallery of Australia.

Inspired by the everyday and mid-century modernism, Howson’s work is unsuspecting yet engaging. For city-dwellers missing expansive fields and collectors of contemporary art, 'Untitled (Rounding Hill)' will delight.
