hunjas-sharon-island-palm-18574
Sharon Hunjas 'Island Palm'

Brisbane-based contemporary artist Sharon Hunjas is renowned for her unconventional and vibrant landscape paintings. In her work, Hunjas often draws inspiration from the world around her, looking to urban streetscapes, 1960s fibro shacks, and breezy banana palms as creative prompts. Often vividly coloured and richly textured, her paintings evoke a shared sense of nostalgia, with each work constructing an imagined world shaped by the viewer’s own feelings, memories and experiences.

In ‘Island Palm’, Hunjas recalls a familiar scene of rest, warmth and relaxation. In this image, the hot sky, cool ocean and white sand come together in temperate balance, the horizon grounded by a singular palm tree on a desert island, offering a glimpse of shade under the glimmering sun. Contemplative and boldly colourful, the work activates a deeper sense of connection with heightened sense and memory - capturing the intensity of the afternoon sun, sandy air and rich textures of the palm’s trunk.

Hunjas has exhibited extensively in galleries across Australia, with her sun-drenched paintings now held in private collections nationwide. For those drawn to contemporary landscapes and vibrant interpretations of the natural world, Hunjas’ work offers a joyful and refreshing discovery.

Sharon HUNJAS
'Island Palm' 2026
acrylic on board
Image Size: 20 x 13 cm
Dimensions: 24 x 17 x 6 cm
Signed: Signed and inscribed with date and title on verso.

Comes with Letter of Provenance

Condition: Excellent

(c) The Artist or Assignee
