Martin King 'First Rain Breeze IV'- collected by Chris

Martin King’s work is characterised by an ongoing interest in the Australian landscape. Teetering towards abstraction, he evokes the drama of the land – its crescendos of drought, rain, open sky and limitless sea.

In ‘First Rain Breeze’, part of a suite of four states, King examines the movement of rain. Against a sandy sky, rain cascades – latticing, streaking and blotting. Weather patterns are given form, the ferocity and grace of the Australian climate captured with elegance.

Considered a leader in Australian printmaking, King is represented across corporate and public collections, including at the National Gallery of Victoria, ArtBank, the Art Gallery of South Australia and Art Gallery of New South Wales. He is the recipient of numerous awards, making him an impressive addition to collections of prints and landscapes.
