le-miere-philippe-frog-outlaw-18612
Philippe Le Miere 'Frog Outlaw'

In 'Frog Outlaw', Melbourne-based artist Philippe Le Miere conjures an impossible scene - a green frog clutching a gun, balancing on the back of Ned Kelly's Horse. Bringing together the distinct visual worlds of two Australian modernist icons, John Olsen and Sidney Nolan, Le Miere crafts a wonderfully irreverent composition, where humour, absurdity and art-historical references collide.

Rendered in the artist’s signature bold palette, gestural brushstrokes and thickly applied paint lend the work a palpable sense of texture, energy and movement. Beneath its playful surface, this painting explores the myths, characters and cultural symbols that have shaped Australia’s collective imagination. By reinterpreting the visual language of celebrated modernists, Le Miere invites us to reconsider the icons we inherit and the stories we continue to tell.

Wild, witty and unapologetically Australian, let Philippe Le Miere’s 'Frog Outlaw' ride, or leap, straight into your collection.

Philippe LE MIERE (1975 - )
'Frog Outlaw' 2026
acrylic on canvas
Image Size: 51 x 38 cm
Dimensions: 51 x 38 cm
Signed: Signed lower right Le Miere, inscribed verso Philippe Le Miere, title and date
Comes with Letter of Provenance

Work of art comes unframed to allow for safe and economical shipping.
