Spending much of her life in rural locations across Victoria and New South Wales, Lewis’ relationship with nature intrinsically informs her works. Through expressive, gestural brushstrokes, the artist creates atmospheric impressions of the land, reflecting both what she sees and how she remembers it.

In Lewis’ 2026 oil painting 'Morning Salute', the natural world is brought to life through energetic, gestural brushwork and a vivid, contrasting palette. Balancing abstraction with figurative representation, Lewis creates a scene that feels both immediate and expressive, inviting the viewer into a world alive with colour and movement.

Since completing her Masters in Contemporary Art at VCA in 2022, Lewis has exhibited extensively in both solo and group exhibitions. She has been selected as a finalist for several major national art exhibitions, including Hadley’s Art Prize, Waterhouse Natural Science Art Prize, and the Len Fox Painting Award. For collectors fascinated by contemporary approaches to landscape painting, Lewis’ works are a momentous discovery.

Kate McKenzie LEWIS
'Morning salute' 2026
oil on board
Image Size: 15 x 20 cm
Dimensions: 17 x 22 x 4 cm
Signed: Signed and dated on verso.
Comes with Letter of Provenance
Condition:Excellent:
(c) The Artist or Assignee
