In her paintings, this sense of curiosity is abundantly observed - each object constructed and re-constructed, reflective of mood, light, space, and most importantly, perspective. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eIn ‘Night Portrait with Park Flowers’, Nguyen creates an intimate impression of her everyday life. Suggested in the title, the artist constructs a still life of a bouquet of foraged flowers, sitting in a repurposed jar. Behind the makeshift vase, a face emerges from the ambiguous darkness, perhaps one of Nguyen’s four children entering into the scene. In her paintings, Nguyen captures scenes as she experiences them, and in this work she gives the viewer a glimpse into her domestic life, a fleeting moment, immortalised through paint. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eOver the past decade of her practice, Nguyen has been selected as a finalist in several national art prizes, including the Wollongong Art Prize, the Hazelhurst Art on Paper Award, and the Michael Beazer Works on Paper Prize.
