Andrew Gunnell’s work exists at the intersection between print, photo and paint. He is interested in the effect of digitisation on representations of natural phenomena, as well as the threshold between analogue and digital. The philosophy quandary of time, and how we experience it, underlies his work.
‘gather 4’ is a beautiful work. It is organic yet abstract, comprising thatching lines traveling across the page. There is a sense of movement, of water, woodgrain and pathways, held in careful constellation.
For collectors of contemporary art and works on paper, this work will impress. It comes from Rona Green’s curation of fifty prints, exhibited at Geelong Gallery.
