Peter Kingston’s landscapes capture the charm and texture of modern life. Never straying too far from the cities he knows best, he creates tiny universes within his work, treating each as an opportunity for visual storytelling. Witty, recognizable and infinitely delightful, Kingston is driven by a deep and genuine adoration for the places and people he depicts.
While best known for his Australian landscapes, ‘Hong Kong Harbour’ takes us to the waters edge in bustling Hong Kong. It is remarkably intricate etching, offering more with every glance: sailboats; smokers; ice cream vendors; shoppers; and skyscrapers. Each vignette brims with character, a loving ode to the music of a big city.
Kingston has exhibited nationally and internationally since 1978. He is represented in most major national collections, as well as public and private international collections. In 2004, he was the subject of a monograph entitled Harbour Lights: the art of Peter Kingston. For fans of Kingston and Hong Kong locals, let ‘Hong Kong Harbour’ bring a smile to your lips.
