Andrew Southhall is a respected Australian artist. His work is expansive – adhering to few boundaries and created in the moment. Like a butterfly moving through flowers, he goes where inspiration strikes, letting an idea crest in his mind before teasing into a fully fledged work of art. This is art as evolution – idea to design to work of art and back again, always forward never regressive.

In ‘Botanic Gardens’, Southall presents a desert garden. Against ruby red earth, alienesque cacti stretch their spikey limbs, a thin tree leans against the sky and tufts of grass sprout. Southall has converted the landscape in a geometric dance; a flirtation with the abstract.

Southall is represented in public collections at the National Gallery of Victoria, Art Bank and New Parliament House, Canberra. For collectors of prints, abstract and landscape art, ‘Botanic Gardens’ will flower in your collection.
