Mark Schaller is one of Australia’s boldest and most respected mid-career artists. With an oeuvre that spans across a multitude of mediums and methods Schaller is best known for his vibrant, plentiful landscapes, fluid, lyrical linework and generous use of colour. Founder of the ‘Roar’ group of artists, a Melbourne school who rose to fame in the 1980s, Schaller’s work can be found in the Australian collection at the National Gallery of Victoria. The creation of ‘The Schaller’ hotel in Bendigo points to his deeply embedded presence within the topography of Australian art.
