What Type of Fine Art Valuation or Appraisal Do You Need?
Not sure where to begin? At Art & Collectors we can help define the purpose and scope of your fine art valuation, or appraisal, to ensure it meets all relevant legal, financial, and industry standards.
Insurance Fine Art Valuations
We provide formal fine art valuations that determine the replacement value of artworks in the event of loss, theft, or damage. These reports are suitable for insurance policies and offer peace of mind through expert, independent assessment that protects the true value of your art.
Probate & Deceased Estate Fine Art Valuations
Our probate fine art valuations establish the fair market value of artworks as of the date of death—ensuring compliance with legal and tax obligations. These reports are impartial, fully documented and compliant with legal requirements for estate settlement or asset division.
SMSF / Superannuation Fine Art Valuations
We provide certified valuations that meet ATO requirements, ensuring compliance and audit readiness. Each report reflects current market conditions and best-practice valuation methodology.
Estate Planning Fine Art Valuations
Estate planning valuations clarify the current market value of your works of art, supporting decisions about succession, insurance, or distribution. These are handled with both rigour and sensitivity.
Matrimonial / Family Division Fine Art Valuations
We provide valuations for family law and asset division—impartial, defensible, and based on current market value. All handled with discretion and professionalism.
Resale / Market Fine Art Valuations
A resale valuation offers a realistic estimate of what an artwork may achieve on today’s secondary market—through private sale, consignment, or auction.
In some cases, a formal valuation is not necessary. If you are seeking advice rather than documentation, our Resale Market Report may be more appropriate.
This collection management service offers insight into an artwork’s market position, based on price precedents, auction trends, and our specialist knowledge of the Australian art market. While non-binding, this report helps you decide whether to retain, conserve, sell, or seek further consultation about your fine art collection.

Do I Need a Fine Art Valuation?
Not all art-related decisions require a formal valuation. If your goal is to gain market insight or strategic guidance, our Collection Management Services may be better suited. These reports provide expert analysis on where your artwork stands within the current Australian market—helping you make informed choices.

How Much Does a Fine Art Valuation or Appraisal Cost?
Our rates are competitive and tailored to your goals, needs, and the scope of the project. We work closely with you to determine the best approach and begin your Fine Art Valuation or Appraisal once payment is received. Pricing depends on the type of valuation and the time required, with a standard hourly rate of $250 (GST inclusive). Melbourne-Based, National Reach
Valuations are conducted from our Melbourne gallery, with in-person appointments available at our premises or at your location for local clients.
