David Aspden
B. 1935 - 2005
David Aspden was born in rural England and immigrated to Australia in 1950. He is best known for his work as an abstract painter, creating vibrant planes of colour and shape. Inspired by jazz, classical musical and the movement of light through trees, Aspden's vision merges colour field and hard-edged painting.
Aspen is represented across Australian public collection, including at the National Gallery of New South Wales and the National Gallery of Victoria. He is also subject of a monograph.
