Kathryn Del Barton
B. 1966 –
Kathryn Del Barton represents one of Australia’s most popular contemporary artists. Based in Sydney, she works across mediums, forging a visual language that references traditional folklore, the cosmos, motherhood and identity. Her work is characterised by intricate detail, femininity and a feeling of boundless euphoria.
A two-time winner of the Archibald Prize (2008 and 2013), Del Barton is represented across public collections, including at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the National Gallery of Australia, the Art Gallery of South Australia and Tasmania’s Museum of Old and New Art. In 2018, she was honoured with a major retrospective at the National Gallery of Victoria.
