Keith Namatjira

B. 1938-1977

Keith Namatjira, was an artist and the fourth son of Albert and Rubina. Much like his father, renowned watercolourist Albert Namatjira, Keith painted in the style of the Hermannsburg school, creating landscapes that were alive with atmosphere, and filled with light.

His landscapes of central Australia often feature distinctive rock formations of the region and ghost gums. He accompanied his father on many national trips, and in 1954 was present when Albert was introduced to Queen Elizabeth in Canberra.

His work is held in national institutions Australia-wide, including the National Gallery of Australia and the National Gallery of Victoria.
