Lionel Jago
B. 1882 - 1953.
Lionel Jago was born a South Australian born, Perth based artist. He gained esteem for his stoic Australian landscapes, seascapes and buildings - all of which, are touched by Jago's clarity, balance and feel for colour. He was a multi-time finalist for the Sir John Sulman and Wynne Prizes.
Jago’s work is held across Australian collections. He is also included in Alan McCulloch canonical 'The New McCulloch's Encyclopaedia of Australian Art', fourth edition.
