Wayne Viney
B. 1949
Wayne Viney is an acclaimed Melbourne-based printmaker. His work incites the romantic tradition, transforming the hours before night and day into visual poems. In these landscapes, there is always a distant yearning for the sublime, as though nature itself is melancholic.
In 2013 to 2014, a retrospective of Viney’s monotypes toured regional galleries across Victoria. He has also been a finalist for numerous art prizes, including the Geelong Print Award and the Rick Amor Print Award. His work is represented in public collections at the National Gallery of Australia, Parliament House and many more.
