Born in Wales in 1943, John Beard is a prestigious Sydney-London based artist who specialises in semi-abstraction and portraiture. At 19 years old, Beard won the Welsh National Art Scholarship and proceeded to study at the Royal College of Art in London. His compelling style usually features dark, monochrome washes where the subject seems on the brink of disappearing.
Beard is represented in collections across the world and in 2007 was awarded the Art Gallery of NSW Archibald Prize for his portrait of installation artist, Janet Lawrence. This expressive and energetic original screen print is a powerful modern piece that will vibrate within your collection.
