"Symphonium" is an avian ode. In his distinct, emotional prose, Auguste Blackman, son of Charles Blackman, uses a birds flight through life to remind us of the preciousness of nature. Not just a place for humans, the land is a miraculous tapestry of lives. Here, in a myriad of colours and moments, Blackman impresses this idea. He states, "This is all the plants, flowers, trees, places she has been. Conversations she has had. Songs she has sung. Babies she has made." He urges us to not let this be her swansong but rather a call to care for the environment.
For collectors of contemporary art, or those fascinated by the Blackman artistic family, "Symphonium" is a scintillating find.
