Provenanced from Charles Blackman’s personal collection, this original drawing is a rare glimpse into the artist’s archive. It is early, dated 1951, a sketch of three figures, a sliver of tree to the left. In it, witness Blackman find his form and tone – the desire to connect, even when it stutters.
