In the works of Anthony Buselli, familiar neighbourhoods are transformed into evocative impressions of place. His landscapes balance recognisable architecture with gestural brushwork, allowing buildings, streets and gardens to emerge through layers of colour and atmosphere. Rather than simply documenting a location, Buselli paints the experience of being within it - how a place is remembered, observed and felt.

In ‘Sunset Marion Street', a suburban streetscape is captured at the end of the day, the soft silhouettes of the houses and lamp posts giving way to the melodic colours of the evening sky. There is a gentle intimacy to this scene - a quiet moment of stillness, observed and captured through the artist's eyes.

Since 1999, Buselli has exhibited extensively in solo and group exhibitions across Australia. His work has been selected as a finalist in several major national art prizes, including the Gosford Art Prize, Hawkesbury Art Prize, Wynne Prize and Mosman Art Prize, for which he has been selected five times throughout his career. In 2023, he was awarded the People’s Choice Award at the Paddington Art Prize.
