Italian-born Antonietta Covino-Beehre’s work is inspired by the juxtapositions and intersections of her heritage and multicultural family in Melbourne. She draws upon Italian history and folklore, creating exquisite prints that feel historical and contemporary.
In ‘Bloodline’, she presents two hands making a love sign. Cast in a wine red, the work is symbolic and intimate, an expression of love, family and unity.
Covino-Beehre won the Fremantle Print Award in 2003. She is represented across state, local and corporate collections, including at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Print Council of Australia, State Library of Victoria and Monash Gallery. For collectors of prints, ‘Bloodline’ is here to love.
