Vittoria Cugno is a contemporary Melbourne-based artist best known for her vibrant, figurative oil paintings. Across her practice, Cugno captures fleeting moments of everyday leisure and human connection, transforming them into enduring painted memories. Through heightened colour and experimental, gestural mark-making, she creates evocative scenes that convey not only the visual character of a place, but also its emotional atmosphere.
In 'Botanical Dash', Cugno creates a scene charged with frenetic energy. Painted from an intriguing and unconventional perspective, the work positions the viewer at ground level, gazing upwards as figures rush around them. Immersed within the scene, the viewer becomes a bystander to this landscape of chaotic motion, heightening the sense of movement and immediacy.
Since completing her Bachelor of Fine Art at RMIT, Cugno has exhibited extensively in galleries throughout Melbourne, and in 2026 she was featured in the emerging artist group show ‘Prelude’ at Australian Galleries. For collectors of exciting and experimental contemporary painters, Cugno’s intriguing paintings are a joyful find.
