Vittoria Cugno is a contemporary Melbourne-based artist best known for her vibrant, figurative oil paintings. Across her practice, Cugno captures fleeting moments of everyday leisure and human connection, transforming them into enduring painted memories. Through heightened colour and experimental, gestural mark-making, she creates evocative scenes that convey not only the visual character of a place, but also its emotional atmosphere.

In ‘The Bond(e) Pond’, Cugno creates a composition of three figures floating in a lake, seeking relief from the warmth of a summer day. Rendered in vivid blues and greens, the work immediately evokes the sensation of afternoon heat, while its tranquil composition captures the carefree pleasure of spending time with friends and unwinding in the summer sun. Through her expressive use of colour and gesture, Cugno transforms an ordinary moment of joy into a vivid, shared memory.

Since completing her Bachelor of Fine Art at RMIT, Cugno has exhibited extensively in galleries throughout Melbourne, and in 2026 she was featured in the emerging artist group show ‘Prelude’ at Australian Galleries. For collectors of exciting and experimental contemporary painters, Cugno’s intriguing landscapes are a joyful find.
