Diana Davidson is a well-respected printmaker, having worked with artists like Robert Dickerson and Arthur Boyd to develop their print projects. Her mastery over the medium is apparent in this original screenprint, ‘The Bay Tolling’.
Davidson presents an abstraction of the seaside. Shades of blue collide into one another as waves meet rock, sand and sailors, evoked by triangular forms. Rather than exactness, Davidson pursues the impression of landscape, its notes of colour, form and texture.
Represented at the Art Gallery of Western Australia, the National Gallery of Victoria and Maitland City Council, Davidson is a collectable and talented artist. For collectors of contemporary prints and landscape, ‘The Tolling’ is a graceful find.
