Frank “Shepard” Fairey is an iconic figure of the Street Art movement. Inspired by graffiti and skateboarding culture, graphic design and social realism, Fairey blurs the boundaries between fine and commercial art, treating all surfaces as his canvas. He is best known for his 2008 Barack Obama ‘Hope’ poster, now a shared symbol in our cultural lexicon.
'Rise Above Rebel' captures the defiant spirit that drives Fairey’s practice. With its bold graphic energy and politically charged symbolism, the work champions resilience, autonomy and the insistence on rising beyond imposed limits. It speaks to rebellion not as chaos, but as a form of empowerment - an assertion of identity and voice in an increasingly complex world.
Exploring issues of self-empowerment, rebellion, xenophobia and environmentalism, Fairey is an activist and collectable artist, represented in the collection of the Smithosonian, Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. This work is for free thinkers, collectors of street, contemporary and pop art.
