Kevin Foley is an accomplished Australian printmaker and experienced art educator based in regional Victoria. Foley’s practice is deeply contextualised by his life on a small farm near Mia Mia in Central Victoria. Focusing on the reality of rural living, he describes his work as a meditation on his “relationship to the landscape”.
Foley’s charming etching ‘Turkish Delight’ captures a moment of domestic tranquility. Against a colourfully-patterned rug, a border collie is shown rolling onto its back, asking to be petted. In this simple yet joyful scene of everyday life, Foley’s work is instantly evocative, calling to mind the unconditional love that humans have with their pets.
Foley’s compelling prints feature in both private and public collections, including the Dubbo Regional Gallery and the Royal Melbourne Hospital. For collectors of contemporary Australian printmaking, or those intrigued by authentic glimpses of everyday life, ‘Turkish Delight’ is an endearing find.
