Recognised as an authority on Photopolymer Photogravure, Argentina-born Silvi Glatteuer’s work considers materiality, objects and preciousness. She is invested in nature, using her practice to collect, archive, classify and record the natural world.
‘Untitled (Nettles)’ is a beautiful image. Using her trademark photomedia technique, Glattauer presents nettles against a rich backdrop – delicate and luminous, they resemble jewels or the exoskeleton of roses.
Glattauer has exhibited at the Museum of Victoria, won the prestigious Nillumbik Prize and received commissions from the Victorian Government and Print Council of Australia. She is represented across public and private collections, including at the Murray Art Museum Albury and Geelong Gallery.
For those who care for nature, ‘Untitled (Nettles)’ will leave a stinging impression.
