Stephen Glover’s artistic practice brings together experience, observation and imagination to transform fragments of the everyday into layered compositions of colour, shape and texture. Working across printmaking, painting, drawing, collage and assemblage, Glover approaches the picture plane as a space of experimentation, where objects can become images and images can take on the presence of objects. The resulting works are often abstracted, and also intuitively informed by the artist’s experience of the world around him.

In Glover’s 2026 monoprint 'The Gates of Memory I', the artist explores the ability of texture, pattern and line to evoke a sense of place - not as it is seen, but as it is remembered. Layers of form and mark-making create a composition that feels both familiar and elusive, reflecting the subjective nature of memory. As with much of Glover’s practice, the work is shaped by a dialogue between gesture and geometry, balancing spontaneity with structure. Through this interplay, 'The Gates of Memory I' becomes a meditation on perception, change and the fleeting, imperfect nature of everyday experience.

Across his career, Glover has exhibited in both solo and group exhibitions across Melbourne and Australia. He has been selected as a finalist in several awards, including the Michael Beazer Works on Paper Prize and the Ironbridge Print Award in 2026. His works are held in several private and public collections, including the Deakin University collection. For collectors of abstract art, or those fascinated by contemporary and innovative printmaking, Glover’s works are a jewel to discover.
