Madeleine Goodwolf is an exciting contemporary Australian artist who works predominantly in printmaking. Based in Tasmania, her artworks have featured in exhibitions both nationally and internationally, including in Germany, where she has worked as a printmaking tutor. In 2003 she co-founded the Tapir Print Workshop.

Goodwolf’s etching ‘Where the sky ends’ is an opulent work of art. Flooded with hues of burnt orange and deep red, this diptych is an exploration of colour, with the abstracted, organic forms she depicts subtly suggesting a grand Tasmanian horizon. But this work is more than it first appears – upon closer inspection, Goodwolf reveals a portrait of a woman, seemingly melting into the landscape.

With her artwork included within the collection of the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery in Hobart, Goodwolf has established herself as a promising contemporary printmaker. For lovers of colour-rich prints, ‘Where the sky ends (diptych)’ is a compelling find.
