Jackie Gorring creates from curiosity. Her work, moving between printmaking and sculpture, is inspired by the places she has been, people she has met, flora and fauna, and the media she engages with. Text appears, gleaned from overhead conversations, her subject matter or the references she draws upon. Gorring’s work contains a fervent energy, speaking to the way she sees the world around her.

Gorring’s 2025 relief print, “Rosie and Bo,” features two dogs in Gorring’s signature style. This work is dynamic, energised by layers of overlapping dots of colour. Gorring’s choice of vibrant pink and blue contrasts against the stark black of the two dogs, creating a magnetic sense of balance across this piece. While focusing on everyday subject matter, the work’s colour palette saturates this print with a sense of vigour and excitement.

Gorring’s work spans a lifetime of practice, reflecting her sense of humour and vibrant outlook on life. She has featured in over 80 exhibitions over the course of her career. Gorring’s works are held in the collections of the National Gallery of Australia, the Canberra Museum and Art Gallery and the Print Council of Australia.

For lovers of contemporary Australian printmaking, Gorring’s “Rosie and Bo” is a captivating find.
