In this duo of etchings, dated between 1884 and 1906, Berthold Hellingraph captures European streets in the first half of the twentieth century. Romantic terraces reach towards the sky, crowned by wintery trees.

Hellingrath was born in West Prussia and at age five, moved to Danzig. Between 1899 and 1905 he completed a masters at Dresden Academy of Fine Arts under the tutelage of Gotthardt Kuehl. In 1925, he was appointed as a lecturer in architectural painting at Technical University, Hannover.

For collectors of European prints and landscapes, this work is an intriguing find.
