Best known for her vibrant interpretations of the Australian land, Belynda Henry is widely recognised as one of Australia’s notable contemporary landscape painters. Living and working in New South Wales, Henry draws constant inspiration from the quiet beauty of her natural surroundings. Describing her practice, Henry takes the essential elements of a scene and reassembles them “much like a mosaic work into a simplified interpretation”, resulting in paintings that are vivid, evocative, and deeply personal.

In Henry’s 2015 painting ‘Eye to the Sky’, a forested landscape is distilled into an expressive composition of colour, line, and texture. Characteristic of Henry’s approach, the scene unfolds in a dynamic array of vivid hues, appearing at once abstracted and familiar. Bright, bold and energetic, the painting demonstrates the distinctive visual language through which Henry transforms her experience of the land into something entirely her own.

Henry has exhibited extensively throughout her career, including with Australian Galleries and Findlay Galleries in New York and Miami. She has been selected as a finalist in several major national art prizes, including multiple appearances as a finalist in both the Wynne and Archibald Prizes. Henry was also a featured artist in Amber Creswell Bell's 'A Painted Landscape'. For collectors drawn to evocative and compelling contemporary landscape painting, Belynda Henry’s work offers a vibrant and distinctive interpretation of the Australian landscape.
