Contemporary Australian printmaker Nicole Henry uses screenprinting to explore the complexities of contemporary life through imagery drawn from the familiar and the nostalgic. Referencing everyday objects and domestic motifs, her works invite viewers to reflect on their relationship with the material world, the passage of time, and the uncertain nature of the future. Henry’s 2026 hand-coloured screenprint ‘The Pale Horizon’ belongs to her ‘Silver Series’, a body of work developed in response to the ancient concept of the 'Silver Age' of humankind - a period marked by the rise of warfare, discord, and distrust. Through this series, Henry draws an intriguing connection between the contemporary and the archaic, using imagery that lovingly references inherited, domestic silverware, here taking the form of an ornate silver tray. Within the tray’s reflective surface emerges a softly-rendered horizon, a delicate image that suspends what has passed - or what is yet to come. In this print, Henry’s imagery serves as a reminder to find comfort amongst the rhythms of the unknown.

A member of the Canberra-based printmakers collective FiveInk, Henry has been featured in several group exhibitions, including at the Canberra Contemporary Art Space and Melago Gallery’s annual Wayzgoose exhibition.
