Frank Hodgkinson is among Australia’s most prodigious artists. He was an acclaimed painter, printmaker, writer, draftsman and architect — a swell of talents so various that novelist Morris West wrote, “he hardly gives you time to focus on any single one.”

‘Rainbow Emu’ is recognisably Hodgkinson. Indebted to both abstraction and Aboriginal art and culture, it is textural and expressive. It testifies to the artist’s interest in Australia itself, rather than trends or other art centres.

Price has been significantly lowered because of the crease in the right hand side. This does not significantly distract from the work of art because the print has a textural quality.
