Best known for his sculptural works, Robert Klippel is regularly regarded as one of Australia’s most significant post-war artists. Through his abstracted modes of expression, Klippel creates works that incorporate both mechanical and organic symbols, countering nature against modernity. His works often explore his own relationship with life in the twentieth-century.

Klippel’s 1993 work ‘Collage’ is a striking example of the artist's works on paper. Using watercolour, acrylic and collage, Klippel constructs an abstracted landscape populated by colourful angular forms. An abstract composition of organic and geometric shapes, Klippel's 'Collage' is an homage to the sculptures he has become so famous for.

Klippel's sculptural works and works on paper are held by most major public institutions in Australia. For lovers of Australian modern art, and those enamoured by abstract works on paper, 'Collage' is a jewel to discover.
