Across his practice he has worked in printmaking, drawing and illustration, creating imagery informed by his frequent travels around the world.
The 2024 etching and aquatint, ‘Istanbul V’ pictures a glimpse of an urban streetscape. Characteristic of Kowarsky’s style, this print is sketch-like, evoking the handmade feeling of a drawing. This print captures the dynamic energy of a traveler anticipating the day before them, looking out onto the city they will later explore. In an ode to Kowarsky’s travels abroad, this cityscape evokes the untapped potential of sites unseen, encouraging the viewer to share his sense of wanderlust.
