Damon Kowarsky is an esteemed contemporary artist. He is inspired by architecture, the colours of the earth and sky, and the relationship between nature and non-natural worlds. Across his practice he has worked in printmaking, drawing and illustration, creating imagery informed by his frequent travels around the world.

The 2023 etching and aquatint, ‘Les Deux Ponts’ features an evocative scene of a bird flying over a river in an urban setting. Using a minimal colour palette characteristic of Kowarsky’s style, this work pictures a white bird flying above a backdrop of brown buildings and greenery, reflected across a rippling river below. Kowarsky has received numerous awards since graduating from the prestigious Victorian College of the Arts.
