Drawing inspiration from the CoBrA movement, Jean Dubuffet's celebration of art brut, and the rebellious spirit of the Angry Penguins; including Perceval, Boyd, Tucker and Nolan; Larwill filled his paintings with exuberant, brightly coloured figures, animals and playful, graffiti-like text. As the artist famously remarked, "I just want people to smile when they look at my paintings."
