Alun Leach-Jones is one of Australia’s most prominent abstract artists. His imagery is an interplay of colour, form and philosophy – intense configurations that summon curiosity, creating space for contemplation and discovery. In his Alchemy series, abstract forms feel mineralised, like stones found deep in the earth’s crust.
Leach-Jones was part of the National Gallery of Victoria’s landmark The Field exhibition; the next year he represented Australia at the Bienale del Sao Paulo in Brazil. His works can be found at New York’s Museum of Modern Art and Solomon R Guggenheim Museum, London’s Victoria and Albert Museum and British Museum, and across Australian state collections.
For collectors of mid-century and abstract art, Leach-Jones is a burst of welcome energy.
