Michael Leunig was an iconic Australian cartoonist, writer, painter, philosopher and poet, best known for his cartoons published in the Sydney Morning Herald and Age newspapers over 55 years. Spanning the political, cultural and philosophical, his visual world was one of whimsy, wit and a deep humanity.

‘Simply this.’ is a rare original etching. Across an orange plane lies a scattering of new sprouts and butterflies around a loopy, recognisably Leunig figure. A visualisation of the maxim to find joy in the everyday, this work is warm and merry, an auspicious find for collectors of Leunig and rare prints.

As special as it is rare, ‘Simply this.’ is hand-signed by the artist and provenanced from the Leunig family's private collection.
