Milan Milojevic orchestrates and embodies a collision of worlds, through his art practice and his heritage. Milojevic will forge whimsical environments that intertwine nineteenth century European wood block designs with digital reconstruction. Phantastic forests–filled to the brim with unconventional fauna, flora and mythical creatures–that offer an escape from everyday normalcy.
Here, he envisions a creature resembling a lion beneath the shelter of a towering tree. Boasting a mane filled with petals, the creature emanates a sense of beauty that is inconsistent with what we know to expect of the natural world.
Step into the bold and strange world of Milojevic, which offers a balanced amalgamation of the traditional and the contemporary while evoking questions of what else could exist. He has exhibited and been collected extensively, both nationally and internationally.
This panel is from Milojevic’s major work Night and Day (The Tree), consisting of 32 individual prints. Each is an archival inkjet prints on photographic rag archival paper with etching plate overlay. Night and Day (The Tree) was shown as a series at the Tasmanian Museum & Art Gallery, see more information here.
