Reg Mombassa (a.k.a. Chris O’Doherty) has worked as a musician, clothing designer for Mambo, and visual artist. His work is instantly recognisable, characterised by a fusion of the mundane—even suburban—and the surreal, producing whimsical images that often pack a quietly progressive punch.
This original drawing pays homage to the Italian music festival No Borders Music Festival. Created for the festival’s 30th anniversary, the work is a joyful merging of Mombassa’s passions—community, art, and music. A wonderful find for collectors of the artist, music lovers, and festival veterans alike.
An Antipodean icon, Mombassa is one of Australia’s most collected, celebrated, and recognisable contemporary artists. From playing with Mental As Anything to being collected by Patrick White, Elton John, and the National Gallery of Australia, Mombassa continues to live in the collective imagination—appearing on walls, album covers, and T-shirts across the country.
