Sally Mumford is a contemporary Australian artist primarily working across printmaking and drawing. Based in Alice Springs, much of Mumford’s practice explores our relationship with the body and mind, and how these are interconnected with the natural environment. Drawing continual inspiration from her local surroundings, Mumford’s works are grounded in quiet observation, bringing attention to the subtle details of the natural world.
In 'Grid Print #6', Mumford presents a distinctly abstract composition. Through the repetition and variation of ordered lines, arranged to form a simple grid, the artist creates a restrained yet visually engaging composition. The work’s structured geometry highlights Mumford’s interest in the rhythms and patterns found in the natural world.
Mumford majored in Drawing and Printmedia, graduating with Honours from the School of Art and Design at the Australian National University in 2018. She has held solo exhibitions in Canberra and Alice Springs and has participated in numerous group exhibitions throughout Australia. Her work was also selected for the exhibition Art. Letter. Home, which toured China from 2017–2019. For collectors interested in contemporary Australian printmaking, Mumford’s work offers an intriguing and distinctive perspective on landscape, place and our relationship with the natural world.
