This photograph was printed at Neue Photographische Gesellschaft – the world’s first, and for some time, largest photographic postcard factory. They developed the NPG pigment process and ‘kilometre photography’ (long rolls of photo paper as opposed to individual sheets), and simplified the mass production of photographs.
Dated 1906, ‘Vom Bischofsberg, Danzig’ is a historical Swiss landscape, no doubt dramatically different today. It represents a fascinating window into European history, as well as the history of photography.
From the collection of noted curator and scholar, Ursula Hoff, this work is an intriguing find with excellence provenance.
