In this hand-signed archival pigment print, John Olsen presents us with monkey business. More an assemblage sculpture than a zoological drawing, this monkey has the face of an echidna, a halo and thin blue line flowing from its shoulder. It hurtles towards abstraction, a reminder that life and lifeforms are never static. For Olsen, monkeys too are a reminder that humour and delight are not confined to the human experience, but living too at these monkey’s fingertips. 

Winner of the Wynne, Sulman and Archibald Prizes, represented in all major institutions and a recipient of an Order of Australia, Olsen is an icon of Australian art. Exceptionally rare to market, this work will charm collectors of Olsen, important Australian art and those with a playful side.
