This rare original graphic from the 1970's is by one of Australia's most respected and influential abstract artists, John Peart. Driven by experimentation, Peart's oeuvre was varied and marked by a continual evolution rather than any fixed style. After initial success as a "Field" artist in the late 1960's, Peart evolved his practice towards minimalism and then later, to a style specifically inspired by Australia. His life was was a spiritual quest and mark making was a process of "becoming" through aesthetic perception. He described his non figurative response to nature thus:"I see pictorial space as an inner landscape for the minds eye to roam".
