Catherine Pilgrim’s ‘Untitled’ is a work of quiet restraint. A bulb, ghostly and secretive, emerges from the background. Is it a fossil, pod, flower or something more alien?
Pilgrim’s practice centres around absence, contemporary still life and historical narratives unfurled under the hand of art. She is the recipient of the Australian Print Workshop Collie Trust Award, and her work is held at the National Gallery of Australia, National Australia Bank, Australian War Memorial and Castlemaine Art Museum.
For collectors of prints and still lives, ‘Untitled’ is a precious find. Hushed yet captivating, rare and strange.
