Ryan Pola is a Melbourne-based artist and secondary school educator. He works predominantly in detailed graphite illustrations, exploring themes that blend identity, nature, and mythological symbols. Pola’s broader body of work often portrays figures entwined with organic elements—flora enveloping bodies, eyes and natures creatures—suggesting a poetic energetic interplay between the human and natural forms.

Produced in acutely refined graphite pencil, Pola’s compositions—including The Giving and Receiving of Energy—draw from the artist’s lived experiences, ambitions, and emotions. This introspective series explores a duality of process and nature, delving into the psyche through a dialogue between inner and outer worlds. The works suggest conversations with and within oneself, tracing the delicate lines that divide self-reflection from outward expression, and naturally imply a tension or flow between these states.

Ryan Pola holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts from Monash University. He has exhibited regularly in group exhibitions in Victoria since 2014 and his works are held in private collections nationally.
