Best known for landscapes such as this, David Rankin has forged a style that merges Eastern and Western perspectives. Inspired by Taoism, his expansive scenes strike harmony through chaos, creating an experience of nature words cannot replicate. This holistic approach to art makes Rankin’s work more than just aesthetic. Instead, founded in a philosophy of process over perfection, his effervescent scenes are an endorsement of life.
A highly esteemed contemporary artist, Rankin won the Wynne Prize in 1983 and is collected by most Australian State Galleries and many private and public collections. Today, he is based in New York and continues to be exhibited widely.
